Most cars were on display inside Fort Adams' walls this year, unlike last year when they were on fields outside the fort overlooking Narragansett Bay and the 2-mile-long Claiborne Pell Bridge. Also, there was no fashion show and pipe and drum marching band as there was last year. Those disappointments aside, there were many stunningly beautiful and rare cars, domestic and imported. Please take a few minutes to scroll through the next three pages. I hope you'll be as impressed as I was.

The following are all 2010 Audis, each over $100,000 — Darn! I forgot my checkbook!

Just makes you want to jump in and take off, doesn't it?

After a cloudy morning, the sun came out and the afternoon was beautiful

You're supposed to be photographing cars, Bob, not photographers

There was ample space on the sprawling grounds

The cars, Bob, get pictures of the cars!

What's the difference between a car show and a concours d'elegance? A full-service bar!

OK, I'll allow one boat in my car series

Really now, Bob, let's get back to the cars!

If you've been paying attention you know the archer adorns the Pierce Arrow

Didn't get the year on this one, but it's around 1930

Pierce Arrow patented those fender-merged headlights in 1914

Pierce Arrow, Packard and Peerless were known as the "Three P's" —
America's leading luxury cars in the '20s and '30s.

I really love those hood ornaments

If you guessed that car a few frames back was a Hispano Suiza, you got it right

The name sounds Spanish, but it was made in France — This is the 1926 model

Like the Pierce Arrow, the Hispano Suiza was identified by its unique hood ornament

You think texting while driving is distracting, try keeping an eye on all those gauges
