Obituary of Hattie Maley, grandmother of Clayton Dwyer, from
a 1937 edition of The Haverhill
Gazette (precise date unknown), is reproduced exactly as it appeared, but
it contains a glaring error. There was never a Governor John Bradford. A William Bradford (1590-1657) was
governor of the Plymouth Bay Colony. John Winthrop (1588-1649) was
governor of the Massachusetts Bay Colony from 1630 to 1649.
A geneaology of the family indicates Hattie Maley was a direct descendant of William Carpenter, brother of Alice Carpenter, second wife of William Bradford.
